Rice-Moong Kichadi

Ingredients:

  1. Rice – 2 tbsp

  2. Moong dal – 1 tbsp

  3. Carrot – 1 small piece

  4. Water – 1 cup

  5. cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp

  6. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

  7. Salt – a pinch

  8. Ghee - 1/4 tsp

Method:

  1. Wash the rice and dal well.

  2. Pressure cook carrot, turmeric powder, salt, rice and dal for 3 whistles.

  3. Mash the rice and dal well while hot until it becomes smooth.

  4. Heat ghee, add cumin seeds and mix well with kichdi

  5. Feed warm.

Nutritional highlights – Rice provides carbohydrate where as dal is rich in protein. Carrot is rich in vitamin A. Ghee provides essential fatty acids.
