Carrot idli

  • Rice – 1 cup

  • Urad dal – ¼ cup

  • Carrot – 1 no.

  • Coriander – 1 tsp (optional)


  1. 1. Wash and soak rice and urad dal and methi seeds for 2 hours and grind it well. Allow it to ferment.

  2. 2. Grease idli mould with oil and keep the idli steamer ready.

  3. Grate the carrots and keep it aside. Keep the coriander ready too.

  4. Pour the batter on the idli moulds. Sprinkle a tsp of carrots and coriander on top of every idli batter (or) You can mix this to idli batter directly before pouring it on moulds.

  5. Steam them and relish the carrot idlis with chutney or sambar.

Nutrition Highlights: Carrots are a good vitamin A and beta carotene source. Idli is a light fermented food that go well during anytime in a day's meal
